The design of our "Safety" Name Step-Stool was born from my childhood days. Between the ages of 1-1/2 to 4-1/2 years old, I traveled by train from our hometown in Redford Township, Michigan (Detroit), to Bremerton, Washington, (on Puget Sound), a US Naval Shipyard and Base. We traversed the rails every 6 weeks to and from where my father was stationed in the Navy during the 2nd World War. While on the train, as you boarded and deboarded the train, you stepped on a wooden step-stool that was as safe as ever. It never tipped, and held the weight. Later in my childhood, I then saw this similar, but different, shaped step-stool again, while at the circus watching the Elephant Act. The elephants were standing on them with all their weight. A light bulb didn't go on in my head until I had a request to design a special, very safe step-stool, for a VIP Section at the Indianapolis 500 Race Track viewing stand.
In this model of our Wooden "Safety" Name Step-Stool, we can insert up to (2) lines of letters/numbers on the top lid, with up to 5 letters/numbers long, for a total of (10). These are in place of the handle slot that would normally be in the middle of the top lid. The letters and/or numbers are inlaid with a loose fit, so as to drop out when turned upside down. This becomes a very educational stool for the very young, when having to replace the letters and/or numbers into the top lid.
The additional cost for the insertion of the letters and/or numbers is at the rate of $5.50 per letter/number. It also can be a personalized step-stool for an adult in many different environments. Such as my Sister-in-law, who is a Beautician, (sometimes she likes to be called a cosmetologist ?!?!?). She just so happens to not be tall enough to reach into the cupboards above her work station for supplies at her place of business. She has one of our W-2303 models to reach up to retrieve those supplies now. It also has her name inserted into the top of it, which helps prevent her co-workers from borrowing it and not returning it. It also assists her when cutting the hair of the young clients she has by exactly fitting inbetween the two arms of the chair and raising them up so it is easier to cut their hair. Ofcourse, it is planned to cut the child's hair first then cut mom's (or dad's) so she can use the psychology of telling the youngster to sit good and when they are done, they will then be able to play with the stool. She's no fool.
In our design, I made it to basically accommodate the young children and then added the heart cutouts to dress it up for the moms. Now, we find as many, (if not more), moms using the step-stool for her activities around the house. Whereas the child needs the Wooden "Safety" Step-Stool for the bathroom, kitchen, playroom or bedroom. The finish is a Non-Toxic Hand Rubbed Clear Impregnated Oil with the inserted letters and/or numbers finished in colors from the rotation of the color wheel. The lid size is 11" x 11" and the overall size is 12" x 12" and 7-1/2" tall.
